Starting with a found photo of a protest by an anonymous American feminist collective from 1969 and Matisse’s Dance, this works explores histories and pictorial representations of self-identified women gathering of in the form of a rotating circle for political and/or sacred motives.

The artist will present a performance work on September 23 at 7PM.


Michelle Lacombe (Montreal, QC) has developed a unique body-based practice since obtaining her BFA from Concordia University in 2006. Her work has been shown in Canada, the USA, Argentina and Europe in the context of performance events, exhibitions, and colloquiums. She is the recipient of the 2015 Bourse Plein sud. Her practice as an artist is paralleled by a commitment to supporting action art and other undisciplined practices. She is currently the director of VIVA! Art Action.
